Jim’s Limited Ethiopian Bombe Coffee: A Taste of Sidama
At Jim’s Organic Coffee, we’re excited to share our limited-edition offering: Ethiopian Bombe Coffee. This unique coffee is grown in the small village of Bombe, nestled in the Bensa district of Sidama, Ethiopia. The Bombe Mountain range is home to some of the highest elevation farms in all of Sidama.
This coffee delivers an extraordinary flavor experience with tasting notes of strawberry, concord grape, and cocoa. Roasted light at our roastery in Wareham, Massachusetts, it’s a cup that’s bursting with vibrant sweetness and complexity.
What makes Jim's Organic Ethiopian Bombe Coffee so special?

Garden Farms and Traditional Farming
The farmers of Bombe live as they have for generations, cultivating small, family-owned farms—often just three to four hectares—located behind their homes. Known as “garden farms,” these plots are intercropped with other food crops like yam, and maize, and shaded by native trees like Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia.
Farming families use the traditional technique of selective picking, where only the ripest, red cherries are harvested. This meticulous process results in a higher-quality cup.
High Altitude
Grown at elevations of 1,950–2,000 meters above sea level, this coffee benefits from the climate found in the Bombe Mountain range.
Higher altitudes slow the coffee plant’s growth, thanks to cooler temperatures and improved water drainage. This extended maturation period allows the cherries to develop more densely, resulting in beans packed with complex flavors. The result is a coffee that’s vibrant, sweet, and layered, with a flavor profile you won’t forget.
Ayla Bensa Washing Station
This coffee is processed at the Ayla Bensa washing station, located down in the Bombe village. During the harvest, 725 smallholder farmers deliver freshly picked cherries to the station daily. Bombe coffee is processed as a natural lot, which means the cherries are dried whole, with the skin and fruit left intact.
Natural processing allows the sugars and flavors from the cherry to infuse into the bean, enhancing its complexity. Once dried, the fruit is removed, and the beans are carefully prepared for export.
Experience Ethiopian Bombe
This naturally processed coffee shines with juicy notes of strawberry and concord grape, balanced by subtle cocoa undertones. The natural processing method enhances its fruit-forward character, giving it a wine-like sweetness that’s distinct to Sidama coffees.
Jim’s Limited Ethiopian Bombe Coffee is a celebration of tradition, quality, and the natural beauty of Ethiopia. From the lush Bombe Mountain range to our roastery in Wareham, every step of this coffee’s journey has been crafted with purpose and care.
