Jim's notes:
We prefer bolder coffee in a French Press. Pretty much any Jim's Organic Coffee that is medium roast to dark roast.
French Press Organic Coffee Brewing
This brew method highlights coffee’s more full-bodied qualities.
WHAT YOU NEED: Whole Bean Coffee | French Press | Wooden Spoon | Hot Water | Timer | Scale or Tablespoon
PRO TIP: We recommend weighing coffee with a scale and using a timer for best results.
Step 1.
MEASURE: Use scale to weigh coffee according to above chart. Heat water on the stove or use an electric kettle set to 205°F. Use a few oz more than recipe suggests, you’ll need some to pre-heat the French press.
Step 2.
GRIND: Grind coffee to a coarse consistency, similar to chunky coarse sea salt.
Step 3.
PRE-HEAT:
Pour a few ounces of hot water into the French press and swirl to pre-heat. Discard and add ground coffee to the bottom of the French press.
Step 4.
BREW: Start timer then pour water just off the boil (200-205°F) over the ground coffee. Pour quickly to immerse all grounds.
PRO TIP: Use a wooden spoon to stir a few times once all the hot water is added.
Step 5.
STEEP: Place plunger on top of coffee so it touches the water level but wait to press down. Start timer for 4 minutes.
Step 6.
FINISH: Once time is up, slowly press the plunger down. Serve and enjoy!
